Lady Vols fail to reach Summitt

Monday night was not kind to top-ranked basketball teams. In the women's Elite Eight, No. 1 seed Tennessee became the first top seed to check out of this year's tournament, as the Lady Vols were ousted by second-seeded Notre Dame. In the NBA, the leaders of each conference, Chicago in the East and San Antonio in the West, both took a nosedive. Here's what else you missed last night.

Women's college basketball: The Elite Eight started with a bang Monday, as Tennessee became the first top seed to make an exit from this year's tournament. Notre Dame, who entered the game 0-20 all-time against Tennessee, beat Pat Summitt's squad 73-59 in Monday's regional final to capture its first-ever win against Tennessee. The Irish advanced to the Final Four for the first time since 2001 -- the last time they won a national championship.
