U.S. hockey team mixes experience, talent

Taxing tryouts and test matches have yielded a new roster, and now Team USA heads to Switzerland for the IIHF World Women's Championships lead by Olympic favorites and talented rookies.

After five days of rigorous tryouts and two test matches, USA Hockey released its final 21-player roster for the 2011 IIHF World Women's Championships held April 16-25, in Zurich and Winterthur, Switzerland. Making the cut are 15 Olympians, 14 world champions and 14 players who were on the 2009 world championship squad that took home gold. The U.S. has captured three gold medals and nine silvers in the 12 previous world championships, as well as winning the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
