After three surprisingly productive seasons as the St. Louis Cardinals' closer, Ryan Franklin's magic appears to have finally run out.

The Cardinals announced on Tuesday that they've removed Franklin from the role he has held since 2008, after he blew four of five save chances to begin the season.
