A 6-foot-3 target man, Conor Doyle has the physical gifts to impose his will on a game. That the young American forward seems to prefer a more subtle approach to making his mark on the field, though, should come as little surprise.

Doyle has an uncanny way of flying under the radar in most things he does. Few had heard of him of him a few months ago when he turned up at English second-division club Derby County on trial. The Texas native not only earned a contract, but immediately established himself as a first teamer.

But the 19-year-old didn't stop there. In his first few months of professional soccer, Doyle's game has grown plenty, helping make him one of the bright spots in a rough World Cup qualifying campaign for the American under-20 team. He scored a pair of goals in three games, including the one that nearly rescued the Americans in their quarterfinal loss to Guatemala.
