Bits: Kennedy, Santos come up big
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Ian Kennedy tossed a three-hit shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, striking out 10 without walking anyone. Unfortunately, quite a few fantasy owners missed it, as Kennedy was dropped in 29 percent of leagues in the past week. Add him back if you want strikeouts.
Chicago White Sox right-hander Sergio Santos retired four New York Yankees on Monday for his first save of the season. The White Sox entered Monday with an MLB-worst one save as a team, as lefties Matt Thornton and Chris Sale have struggled. Santos, still unscored upon in 11 innings this season, should get more chances.
Florida Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan stroked a pair of solo home runs Monday, giving him four on the season, one short of his 2010 season total. Coghlan had three hits and three runs scored Monday, raising his batting average to .301. He's owned in 74.3 percent of ESPN leagues, but that figure seems low.
