Carlos Gonzalez thriving in leadoff role

I like it when managers think outside the box in terms of who hits at the top, middle or bottom of their lineups. In terms of the leadoff spot, a few weeks ago creative Tampa Bay Rays leader Joe Maddon gave third baseman Evan Longoria a few games hitting first, and his best hitter batted .455, then moved down in the lineup. The Washington Nationals have used billionaire outfielder Jayson Werth to start things off in two games recently, thinking the middle of the order is in good hands, so why not try a speedy walker at leadoff? That's not really working, though, as Werth is 0-for-8. And then there are the Colorado Rockies with Carlos Gonzalez, and so far, so good, and so it might continue.
