Justin Verlander's effective evolution
Magic Johnson always seemed to be evolving during his career, and he'd do his troubleshooting during the summers. He began his career as a slashing point guard, but through the years he developed a hook shot -- which proved pivotal in a crucial moment of a championship series against the Celtics -- and he honed his outside shooting, and his free throw shooting. He came into the league with extraordinary court vision and size and energy, and year by year, he got better and better.
The same can be said for another star who spends his summers in Michigan, Justin Verlander. He can throw 100 mph and has a talent for throwing a breaking ball, so he probably could be good with just those two pitches.
