A guide to German soccer terms

The 2011 Women's World Cup is being held in soccer-mad Germany. It makes sense to learn a little German, so that you, too, can sound like a true fan of Fussball. Here are 15 terms to put you in the Deutscher soccer elite:

Note: In the German language, all nouns are capitalized, even in middle of a sentence.

1. Ampelkarte (pronunciation: "Aahmpell-kahrte"): A penalty card, either yellow or red, given by the referee for an infraction. Ampel means traffic light.
