Red Wings, Kris Draper to meet media
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have called a news conference with Kris Draper amid reports that the veteran forward will retire.
The 40-year-old Draper helped the Red Wings win four Stanley Cups and was named the NHL's best defensive forward in 2004. But injuries limited him to 47 games and 11 points last season.
Detroit may have run out of room at forward. Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller were re-signed and prospects are expected to also get a chance to play next season.
