South Carolina landed its second linebacker commitment of the 2012 recruiting class with Friday's addition of middle linebacker prospect Kaiwan Lewis (Hammonton, N.J./ Saint Josephs). Lewis, 6-foot-2 and 227 pounds, is a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 8 inside linebacker.

"I picked South Carolina because they were the best fit for me," Lewis said. "After sitting down and talking with my parents and coaches I felt very comfortable in making this decision. I have a great relationship with the coaches and fit in with the players at South Carolina. I know it's a place where I can go in and compete for a spot because they have a lot of older guys."

Something else that registered for Lewis was the Gamecocks' breakthrough season in 2010 where South Carolina won the SEC East for the very first time.
