SEC becoming a top hoops conference

The SEC has built a great reputation with its tremendous success on the gridiron, however there is a good chance that the basketball programs should start to enjoy similar success in the near future. Although the SEC West has been quiet over the past five years when the field has been announced on Selection Sunday, all of that is about to change as teams in the SEC West have made great strides on the recruiting front. Add in the fact that the SEC is in the process of changing the divisional format and you can see the door opening for some exciting times on the hardwood. Alabama, Arkansas and LSU seem like the front runners and have grabbed the most headlines with highly-rated recruiting classes, but Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss have also positioned themselves for success. The league's coaches have done an excellent job on the recruiting trail and the fan bases are going to see the rewards over the next few years. If the talent continues to pour in it is not out of the possibility to see eight teams receive a bid in the same year.
