Chipper Jones is not your metaphor

Standing behind the batting cage at Citi Field late Saturday afternoon, two things present themselves to notice. The first is that for a 7:05 p.m. Mets/Braves start, the smell of sausage, onions and peppers arrives thick on the field right around 5:30.
