Delmon Young gets fresh start with Tigers

Not only did the Detroit Tigers acquire outfielder Delmon Young from the Minnesota Twins on Monday, they instantly installed their new player in the coveted No. 3 spot in their lineup, directly ahead of stud Miguel Cabrera. Talk about a change, eh? Young is having a terrible (albeit injury-plagued) season and the Twins seemed indifferent about playing him regularly, so he gets dealt to another AL Central team for prospects and then homers in the first inning off the team he began the day with!
Just last week, I mentioned Young briefly in a blog entry about this season's biggest hitting disappointments and how they're likely to become sleepers for 2012, and truth be told, I didn't expect much from Young the rest of this season. Well, this Monday trade could change everything, as Young illustrated with his initial performance (which was overshadowed to some degree by Jim Thome whacking a pair of home runs, including No. 600, in the same game).
