Ted Williams honored with U.S. postage stamp
WASHINGTON -- Slugger Ted Williams will win a spot on a U.S. postage stamp next year.
The last baseball player to hit .400 for a season, the Boston Red Sox star will be honored on a "Forever" stamp, part of a set featuring baseball players.
Also included will be Larry Doby, Willie Stargell and Joe DiMaggio, whose stamps were announced earlier.
Williams topped the .400 mark in 1941 and hit .344 during a 19-year career, including 521 home runs.
