Carrasco joins injury-riddled Red Sox bullpen

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox acquired righty Hector Carrasco from Minnesota on Sunday to bolster a bullpen decimated by injuries to Bryce Florie, Rich Garces and Hipolito Pichardo.

The Red Sox sent Class-A outfielder Lew Ford to Minnesota for Carrasco, a major leaguer since 1994, when he joined Cincinnati.

In 61 games this season, all in relief, Carrasco is 4-3 with one save and a 4.25 ERA. He is 11th among AL relievers with 72 innings pitched. He has 57 strikeouts ...
