Red Sox RHP Florie has retinal damage; undergoes surgery

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Boston Red Sox righthander Bryce Florie suffered severe injuries when he was hit in the face by a line drive on Friday night.

Florie underwent surgery this morning at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital to assess his injuries and Red Sox team physician Dr. Bill Morgan issued the following statement:
