BracketBusters: First impressions

The programmers got the "best game" right in setting up this season's BracketBusters matchups.

The biggest story outside the power conferences this season is whether or not Murray State can run the table. With the Racers a designated host for BracketBusters, Murray State needed to be paired with the best-available road team. That is now the case with Saint Mary's headed to Murray State on Feb. 18. We have already set the DVR for that one!

Normally I would have advocated Saint Mary's at Creighton as the marquee BracketBusters game, but Murray State's undefeated record altered that thinking. However, Long Beach State at Creighton is anything but a consolation prize. Long Beach has played the top nonconference schedule in the country but has yet to break through against an NCAA tournament team. The 49ers won't have that hole in their resume if they can win in Omaha.
