Strategy: When to draft starting pitchers
In 2009, the average team hit .262 and scored 747 runs, continuing a trend from previous seasons. In 2007, there was an average of 777 runs scored per team. In other words, over the past two seasons, run scoring has been way down, the lowest it has been in quite some time. Yet it seems like fantasy baseball owners are still drafting as if it's 2002, when sluggers were plentiful. It's not 2002 anymore, even at the first-base position, and there aren't enough sluggers to go around.
