How the Spartans can still improve
The Michigan State Spartans did not expect to compete for a Big Ten title this season. They weren't alone in that assessment either. After a disappointing campaign in 2010-11 that included key injuries and saw players leaving the program, it was tough to size up the Spartans at the start of the fall. Even senior leader Draymond Green told me the team had no idea how good it would be. Two early losses on the national stage to the North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils did little to clarify the situation, but here in the waning days of February, I think this squad's true talent level is coming into focus.
Tom Izzo's team is good. Scary good. And that should frighten everyone as the NCAA tournament approaches.
