'Character' hampers Grigorenko, Frk
With the U-18 World Championship approaching, scouts are gearing up for the annual opportunity to watch a disproportionate amount of draftable talent from across the globe collect in on place -- in this case the Czech Republic.
As we discussed last week however, some of the top prospects will miss out on the event due to conflicts with their CHL teams as they advance in the playoffs or due to the tournament's age restrictions. Two such players are Martin Frk (Halifax Mooseheads) and Mikhail Grigorenko (Quebec Remparts). Both are first-rounders, with Grigorenko in the discussion as a dark horse for the No. 1 overall pick. Before I head across the pond to scout the U-18s, I checked in on these two talents to break them down in detail. And as an added bonus, the game allowed me to examine Nathan MacKinnon (Halifax), widely regarded as the No. 1 prospect for the 2013 draft.
