Bits: Vogelsong picks up where he left off
• San Francisco Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong, activated from the DL and taking the roster spot of Brian Wilson Sunday, tossed 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball, with seven strikeouts in his 2012 debut. For Vogelsong, undrafted in ESPN standard leagues and owned in a mere 5 percent of them, it's quite a drop from last year, when he won 13 games with a 2.71 ERA. No, I don't see a repeat, but he is worth owning in 12-team leagues.
• Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kyle Drabek, meanwhile, comes off a terrible 2011 campaign, but moved to 2-0 this season with 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball (one earned) against the Baltimore Orioles Sunday. Drabek struck out six. I'd still rather have Vogelsong in deeper leagues, but Drabek is clearly a different pitcher from the walk machine he resembled last year, and he has considerably more upside.
