Carlos Correa has best-in-class potential
I went to San Juan for the first time, seeing the first day of games in the Victor Pellot Tournament of Excellence, an annual showcase in Caguas that includes the best draft-eligible players on the island. The presence of the best Puerto Rican prospect since MLB folded the island into the draft in 1991 brought heavy attendance by scouts, with several teams up top sending multiple evaluators.
That prospect, shortstop Carlos Correa, is one of the youngest top prospects in this year's draft at 17, and while he's likely to outgrow shortstop he could be a monster at third base as his body, already well developed for his age, fills out.
