Tigers OF Higginson named AL Player of the Week
NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Bobby Higginson, who hit. 500 with three homers and 10 RBI, today was named the final American League Player of the Week for the 2000 season.
For the week, Higginson went 14-for-28, ranking second in the league in slugging percentage (.929), third in on-base percentage (.576) and tied for fourth in runs scored (8).
For the season, he batted .297 with a career-high 30 homers and 99 RBI, just shy of his personal-best of 101 in 1997.
