Oakland Athletics right-hander Jarrod Parker threw seven shutout innings at Coors Field on Thursday, allowing three hits and striking out six, and ending a trend in which most hurlers had been pounded in Denver recently. Parker allowed six runs in Arizona in his previous outing, making him a likely fantasy sit Thursday. Instead, it was his eighth outing in 10 in which he permitted two runs or fewer, and the third time in four starts he didn't allow any runs. Parker has allowed a .094 batting average in at-bats ending in his changeup (5-for-53) this season. This is a young pitcher to rely on.
