Bits: Fister wins third straight start
Detroit Tigers right-hander Doug Fister held the streaking Los Angeles Angels to an Albert Pujols solo home run over eight strong innings Wednesday. Fister struck out 10 and walked two, and he has won three consecutive outings. Fister seems back on track, and his 2011 owners recall his amazing second-half stats. He's owned in roughly 60 percent of ESPN standard leagues.
Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander James McDonald allowed five runs in the first two innings at Coors Field on Wednesday, but he stuck around for five innings to earn his 10th win. McDonald's past two outings, each on the road, have produced 17 hits, nine walks and 10 runs in 9 2/3 innings, with only four strikeouts. McDonald's home ERA is 1.69, and his next scheduled start is there against the Chicago Cubs.
