Seventeen first-time candidates on ballot
NEW YORK -- Kirby Puckett, Dave Winfield and Don Mattingly are among 17 first-time candidates on this year's ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Kirk Gibson, Lance Parrish, Dave Stewart and Andy Van Slyke also appear for the first time on ballots, which were mailed this week to 10-year members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
