Blanda reaches 2,000-point plateau

In the final regular-season game of his 26-year professional football career, 48-year-old George Blanda becomes the first player to reach 2,000 points. He kicks four extra points in the Oakland Raiders' 28-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, lifting his scoring total to a record 2,002 points.

Blanda, who played quarterback as well as kicked in his earlier days, scored nine touchdowns, kicked 335 field goals and made 943 extra points. He played for the ...
