Perhaps one reason we love the NFL above all other spectator sports is that we have never experienced what it is like to be a professional football player. We have no idea what it is like to play pro football, so we can only dream about it and admire the men who do it.
Other than loving the game, we have nothing in common with the NFL player.
Now we have a common bond: unemployment. Everyone who has ever been suddenly and frightfully out of work can relate to the NFL (non)players who are engaged in a gigantic game of chicken with the NFL owners -- who are still owners, even if they do not have a product to sell at the moment.
So let's help the out-of-work players. That's the list we want to create this week -- Top 10 Tips For Unemployed NFL Players. What advice can you give them? And if you have seen our lists, we are looking for funny or snarky instead of anything truly helpful. Perhaps other jobs they might pursue? Other hobbies? The UFL?
It's up to you. Send your best suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org -- including, as always, your first name, initial of your last name and your location.
These guys are out of work. What should they do other than playing "Madden NFL 2012" even though it might be 2012 before they actually play the real game again?
How can they survive?
They need you.
