Considered the toughest extreme enduro dirtbike race in North America, 2014 marked the third year of the King of the Motos. Held Sunday, kicking off the weeklong King of the Hammers desert truck races in Johnson Valley, Calif., the 76-mile, two-part enduro race combines fast desert racing with technical rock climbing. King of the Hammers runs through this weekend.
Two-time King of the Motos champ Cody Webb, 25, from Watsonville, Calif. was the first off the line during Sunday’s final and the first to cross the finish later that afternoon.
His time of 2:38:01 was a little more than two minutes faster than second place finisher Taylor Robert. Even more impressive was that Webb lost his GPS during the morning section and suffered a flat tire during the afternoon, 15 miles from the finish.
