Like a modern day Black Sox scandal, in 2010, Pakistan's cricket team got mired in a match fixing scandal that shook the sport from its foundation. Members of the team, including star captain Salman Butt, accepted payments for deliberately bowling certain balls at specific times during a tournament in London. A newspaper sting led to Scotland Yard's involvement. In the end, Butt was sentenced to 30 months in jail and received a 10-year ban from the sport.
