A national champion at Notre Dame, Bleier played one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In Vietnam, Bleier was wounded in both legs and told he would never play football again. But the eventual Purple Heart recipient fought back -- and went on to win four Super Bowls in Steel City and retire as the franchise's fourth-leading rusher.
