At 18, Gabriel Medina is the latest in a long line of surfers to wear the moniker of "Brazil's greatest hope for a world champ." But truly, he is. When it comes to aerial surfing he is the state of the art. But coming in runner-up to Kelly Slater at the Volcom Fiji Pro in pumping Cloudbreak conditions is where he really proved that he's experienced well past the word "rookie" next to his name would indicate. Medina will join the lineup for the first-ever Real Surf contest in 2013.
