CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The CIAA says it continues to gather information about the fight at a luncheon that left Winston-Salem State's quarterback beaten in a bathroom the day before the league championship game.
CIAA Commissioner Jacqie Carpenter said in a statement Tuesday she has asked for written reports from the head coaches and administrators at Winston-Salem State and Virginia State.
Carpenter also wants details of each school's investigation into the incident that led to the cancellation of the championship game and a postseason ban for VSU.
WSSU quarterback Rudy Johnson says he was punched, stomped and kicked by as many as six Virginia State players during the fight.
Virginia State running back Lamont Daniel Britt has been charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury. Coach Latrell Scott says four other players were questioned.
