NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans will turn to their fourth return man of the season this weekend at Indianapolis after signing veteran Leon Washington on Tuesday.
The team announced it added Washington and cut Devon Wylie, who lost a fumble on a kickoff return in Tennessee's 30-27 loss to the Colts on Nov. 14. The Titans also released center Kevin Matthews, son of offensive line coach Bruce Matthews.
Tennessee started the season with Darius Reynaud as the returner, putting Marc Mariani on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. The Titans cut the mistake-prone Reynaud after seven games, then saw replacement Damian Williams suffer a hip injury Nov. 10 in a loss to Jacksonville. They promoted Wylie, who had signed to the practice squad a week earlier, after that.
Washington is in his eighth year and was recently cut by the Patriots. He spent his first four seasons with the Jets, and three after that with the Seahawks.
The Titans also agreed to terms on a practice squad contract for defensive tackle Frank Kearse and placed defensive tackle Chigbo Anunoby on the practice squad injured list.
Tennessee (5-6) trails Indianapolis (7-4) by two games in the AFC South.
