Everett Golson's return to Notre Dame could come in the next two weeks after coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday he's been told the suspended quarterback will be re-admitted to the university Dec. 13.

A school official confirmed that a mid-December timeline for Golson's return has been established.

"I've been assured that based upon all of the information that has been provided that he's going to be readmitted on Dec. 13, and that information has been provided to admissions," Kelly, on a media tour to promote Vizio's BCS Fan Throwdown contest, told ESPN.com. "It's just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December."

Golson will not be able to practice with the Fighting Irish (8-4) during their bowl-game preparations. He cannot travel with the team to its to-be-determined bowl site, either.

Golson is home in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after spending much of the fall in San Diego training with quarterbacks guru George Whitfield Jr. Golson was suspended from school in the fall for what he said was "poor academic judgment." A year earlier he led the Irish to an unbeaten regular season and the BCS title game, which they lost to Alabama.

Golson, who will have redshirt junior status next fall, started 11 games in 2012, completing better than 58 percent of his passes for 2,405 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. He added 298 rushing yards and six more scores.
