SALT LAKE CITY -- Chris Kaman will start in place of Pau Gasol when the Los Angeles Lakers play the Utah Jazz on Friday, Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said after the team's shootaround Friday morning.
Gasol is out while dealing with an upper respiratory infection and did not join the team on its flight to Utah on Thursday. He is officially listed as day to day by the Lakers.
Gasol sat out the 102-83 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday with the same condition but had played in L.A.'s past two games, averaging 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in losses to Phoenix and Miami.
Kaman filled in for Gasol against the Warriors, and totaled 10 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks on 5-for-17 shooting from the field.
Kaman is averaging 7.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game on the season.
Friday will mark the Lakers' 15th different starting lineup though 30 games this season and their sixth in the past six games. Only the Milwaukee Bucks have used more.
