U.S. champion Max Aaron is dropping from three to two quadruple jumps in his long program after a disappointing fall season.
Aaron said during a conference call Friday he and his support team decided to make the change about two weeks after his seventh-place finish at the NHK Trophy in early November. He also adjusted some of the music for the program.
The switch came less than two months before the U.S. championships. The men's short program is Jan 10.
The 21-year-old Aaron says he was landing the three quads in his long program in practice but couldn't translate that success to competition. He says he was "disgusted with how I've skated."
