Ryan Callahan ready to play

By Katie Strang

Captain Ryan Callahan returned to the Rangers lineup Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, his first game after missing the past nine due to a knee injury.

Callahan told reporters at the team's morning skate in Pittsburgh that he was ready to play.

The 28-year-old Callahan, who also has been hampered by shoulder and hand injuries this season, sustained a sprained knee in the team's 4-1 loss to Nashville on Dec. 10.

Callahan was recently named to the U.S. Olympic hockey team that will compete in the Sochi Games. He will be joined by American-born Rangers teammates Derek Stepan (Hastings, Minn.) and Ryan McDonagh (St. Paul, Minn.).
