|It seemed Creighton's Grant Gibbs' injury would complicate teammate Doug McDermott's player of the year candidacy. But the Bluejays adjusted well against Xavier.|
Creighton's Grant Gibbs suffered a dislocated kneecap and will be out four to six weeks, the senior guard told ESPN's Jeff Goodman on Wednesday.
Gibbs suffered the injury while fighting for a rebound during the Bluejays' 81-62 victory against DePaul on Tuesday.
Gibbs is averaging 6.1 points and 4.1 assists per game for Creighton (13-2), which is off to a 3-0 start in the Big East.
Doug McDermott, a two-time consensus All-American averaging 24.3 points per game, expects to play this weekend against Xavier after an MRI revealed a minor left shoulder sprain and a bruised rotator cuff. He also suffered those injuries against DePaul.
