The nation's top-ranked boys and girls high school basketball teams will again match up at the end of the season, but the tournament will have a new home and a new sponsor.
The championship games of the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament will be played at Madison Square Garden on April 5, it was announced Thursday. Boys quarterfinal and semifinal games, along with girls semifinals, will take place April 3-4 at a location in New York to be determined.
"High school basketball has a long and rich tradition at Madison Square Garden as we have hosted some of the game's legendary players," Joel Fisher, executive vice president of MSG Sports, said in a release. "We are excited to host the boys and girls finals of the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament, the premier high school basketball tournament in the country."
Last year, when the event was known as the National High School Invitational, Montverde (Fla.) captured the boys championship and Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.) won the girls title.
Comprehensive coverage of the sixth annual tournament -- starting with boys quarterfinals and girls semifinals -- will be aired on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.
