SAPPORO, Japan -- Japanese teenager Sara Takanashi won her second straight women's ski jump World Cup event on home soil Sunday, continuing her dominance ahead of the Sochi Olympics.
Takanashi had jumps of 97 and 91 meters for a total of 237.1 points to extend her lead in the World Cup standings. The 17-year-old, who also won Saturday's event, will be the overwhelming favorite to become the sport's first female Olympic champion next month when women's ski jumping makes its debut in Sochi.
Coline Mattel of France finished second with 219.8 points, followed by Russia's Irina Avvakumova, who was third with 215.3 points.
It was the sixth title of the season for Takanashi, who has 660 points in the overall World Cup standings, 225 points ahead of Avvakumova.
Takanashi has won six of seven World Cup events this season and a record 15 titles overall. She will be looking to add to her haul next weekend in Zao, Japan.
