Florida State has promoted linebackers coach Charles Kelly to defensive coordinator, replacing Jeremy Pruitt, who was hired last week by Georgia for the same position, a source said Wednesday.

Defensive line coach Sal Sunseri has been promoted to associate head coach, the source confirmed.

Kelly, a former assistant at Georgia Tech, joined coach Jimbo Fisher's staff one year ago to coach the linebackers and serve as special teams coordinator after seven seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He previously served as a DC for Nicholls State, Henderson State and Jacksonville State in his 24-year career.

Pruitt, who helped coach the Seminoles to the BCS national title in his first season as defensive coordinator at the school, left to replace former Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, who accepted the same position at Louisville.
