The Northern Trust Open announced four sponsor invitations via Twitter with American Max Homa, France's Victor Dubuisson, the Netherland's Joost Luiten and Italy's Francesco Molinari gaining entry into the tournament field.
Homa, the 2013 NCAA champion out of Cal-Berkley who owns status on the Web.com Tour to start the year, is currently fourth on the PGA Tour's non-member money list with earnings of $171,450. If he earns enough FedEx Cup points to equal No. 150 on last year's points list, he can accept an unlimited amount of sponsors' invitations. Homa missed the cut last week at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open but is in the field for next week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Both Molinari and Luiten have won three times on the European Tour in their careers. Dubuisson's lone European Tour win came at the Turkish Airlines Open in November.
John Merrick is the defending champion of the Northern Trust Open, which held will be held at historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., from Feb. 13-16.
