Ryan Callahan remains a New York Ranger, for now at least.
The NHL's Olympic roster freeze went into effect at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, and no player can be traded until the freeze is lifted on Feb. 23. Callahan is headed to Sochi, Russia, to compete for the U.S. team in the Winter Games.
Callahan's camp and the Rangers remain locked in a contract stalemate despite discussions between the sides this week. Trade talks for the unrestricted free agent will likely resurface once the Olympics are over and in the days leading to the March 5 trade deadline.
