The NFL announced Thursday that the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills will open the 2014 preseason schedule in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
The game will be held Aug. 3, the day after the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions. This year's Hall class includes former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and former Bills receiver Andre Reed.
This is the fourth time the Giants will appear in the Hall of Fame Game. They played in the first one in 1962 and returned in 1972, 1985 and 2002. The Bills played in the game in 1974, 1989 and 2009.
The Hall of Fame Game is an additional preseason game for its participants, which means the Giants and Bills will each have five preseason games instead of the usual four. It also means they'll be allowed to start training camp earlier than the other 30 teams, possibly as early as July 19.
