LOS ANGELES -- UCLA standouts Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson were suspended for Thursday night's 87-83, two-overtime loss to Oregon for a violation of team rules, first-year coach Steve Alford announced.
Adams is averaging a team-leading 17.2 points along with 5.6 rebounds and a Pac-12-leading 2.9 steals per game, while Anderson is averaging 14.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists. He is the only player among Division I schools averaging more than 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Both players are sophomore guards.
The Bruins (21-6, 10-4 Pac-12) entered the game in second place in conference action behind No. 4 Arizona (26-2, 13-2). Adams and Anderson are expected to return to action Sunday night when UCLA entertains Oregon State in its final home game of the season.
Oregon (18-8, 6-8) won its first 13 games of the season before losing eight of 10 and winning three in a row. The Ducks' last three losses were each by two points including a 70-68 setback to UCLA in Eugene last month.
