IT DOESN'T APPEAR that Gina Carano is anywhere near slowing down her acting career, despite Ronda Rousey's wishes to take her on in the octagon. Carano is the star of "In the Blood," which hits theaters and is available on demand and from iTunes on April 4.
The film, from director John Stockwell ("Blue Crush"), follows the MMA fighter-turned-actress as she hunts down the men responsible for her husband's disappearance while on their Caribbean honeymoon. Much ass-kicking ensues, as you can see in the exclusive clip above (courtesy of Anchor Bay Films).
Carano, 31, shot to cinematic stardom in 2012 as the lead (alongside Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender) in director Steven Soderbergh's "Haywire." But the fighter first demonstrated her on-camera readiness four years earlier, when she appeared as "Crush" in the reboot of the reality combat series "American Gladiators."
This ESPN correspondent visited the show's arena in 2008 to humble Crush and her fellow gladiators, or maybe the reverse happened -- can't remember. You can watch my joust contest with Carano at the four-minute mark. And if you'd never seen a reporter get thrown like a javelin by a 6-foot-8, 300-pound man: 2:50 mark.
