Virginia Tech cornerback Brandon Facyson will miss the rest of spring practice with a lower leg injury, head trainer Mike Goforth said Friday.
Facyson has a left tibia stress reaction and will be placed in a boot as a precaution. His leg has been bothering him since last fall, so coaches and Tech's training staff felt it was best to give him rest now. He is expected to make a full return for summer workouts.
The Hokies opened spring practice Thursday and have their spring game set for April 26.
Facyson played as a true freshman last year and started nine games. He finished third in the ACC with five interceptions, while adding 27 tackles and eight pass breakups en route to freshman All-America honors.
With Facyson out, more opportunities are sure to open for sophomore Der'Woun Greene and junior Donovan Riley.
