LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Matt Anderson had 15 points on 14 kills and an ace, and the U.S. men's national volleyball team swept Russia on Saturday night to improve to 4-0 in World League play.
Taylor Sander added 11 points in the 25-19, 25-23, 25-17 win at the Walter Pyramid on the Long Beach State campus.
Denis Biriukov had 14 points for Russia, which is winless in World League pool play despite being ranked No. 2 in the world. The fourth-ranked U.S. men also defeated Russia in five sets Friday night.
The top finishers in each pool advance to the annual international tournament's final round July 16-20 in Florence, Italy.
The United States is without three-time Olympian Reid Priddy, who injured his knee in a victory over Bulgaria on May 24. He required surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
