TOOELE, Utah -- Moreno Hofland won his second stage in three days at the Tour of Utah by out-sprinting a host rivals after a flat, windy stage Wednesday at Miller Motorsports Park.
The field caught a group of riders who made an early breakaway in the closing miles, and Hofland's Belkin team took charge heading to the finish line. Andrea Palini of Lampre-Merida was second. Eric Young of Optum finished third.
SmartStop's Jure Kocjan finished safely in the peloton and kept the overall leader's jersey.
On Thursday, the fourth stage will take riders on a 105-mile trek from Ogden to Powder Mountain and the first summit finish of the Tour of Utah. The six-mile, 3,000-foot ascent should shake up the overall standings and provide the favorites their first chance to shine.
